The National Lands Commission of Kenya Head Office interior fit-out works, completed in July 2015, were done on three floors with the theme of corporate transparency and openness being the main design guideline and concept. The spaces, which comprise of management and open plan spaces as well as meeting rooms, meet the functional criteria provided by NLC to the design team. The management offices make use of near full-height glazing to allow visual continuity through to the open plan workspaces.
The open plan concept allows for ease of ventilation and natural lighting throughout the office spaces. Use of mechanized ventilation was, nonetheless, a requirement owing to the location of the offices on the western façade, which is exposed to the afternoon sun. However, the closed offices have adopted use of vents, which allow for cross-ventilation from operable windows into open plan spaces.
