The project, a design-competition winning entry by AAKI Consultants, is a 5-storey building that was completed in April 2016. The building’s form was primarily guided by a sustainability design strategy and maximization of spatial utility requirement as per the client’s design competition brief. The office spaces are shaded on the western façade by sunshades which, coupled with strategically located solar chimneys, ensure a well naturally lit and ventilated building. The atrium, located above the entrance lobby and on the western façade, also ensures adequate cross-ventilation throughout the building. The service core, which includes the lifts, staircase and washrooms, located on the eastern façade shield the building spaces on the eastern side from the morning sun. The building also adopted use of locally available materials in the building’s construction which will facilitate easy maintenance over the building’s life cycle
