The CIC Plaza building, a design competition-winning entry submitted and won by AAKI Consultants, is situated along Mara Road in Upper hill, Nairobi. The building adopts a rectangular form tapering at the last two floors and is composed of 2 cuboid towers raising up to 11 floors joined by a central service core. The use of a near square layout was adopted to ensure maximum returns were achieved for the clients.
The principal environmental control response was orientation where the longer facades face north and south, the intention being reduction of direct solar heat penetration while maximizing on natural light penetration into the office spaces
