Affa Headquarters is an office building complex rising to 6 floors with a semi basement parking and a centrally placed entrance lobby connecting the Phase II building to Phase I building. The use of near rectangular layouts facilitates maximum utility of space. The principal environmental control response was orientation of the building with the long facades, which have windows and office spaces facing north south to reduce heat penetration to the office spaces from the western afternoon sun. The use of double glazing with solar control glass on the external forming the building curtain wall further serves to cut down on direct sun heat entering the building. In addition to the orientation of the long façades parallel to the east-west solar axis, the positioning of openings against prevailing winds aids in naturally ventilating the office spaces for energy efficiency. Centralization of the circulation core to serve the 2 wings of the building enhances maximum utility of space while adding to structural integrity of the building
