The 11 storey building was considered to be the introduction of modern architecture with the use of building materials such as concrete, masonry walling, aluminum glazing and fins that were used as sun shading elements. |

NAIVASHA 3 STAR HOTEL The six storey building adopts a rectangular form exhibiting symmetrical rhythm on the main facades, characterized by an interplay of recesses and bold elements towering at full height. The typical hotel upper floors sit on a curvilinear staggered twin podium that accommodates the main restaurant and bar as well as the conference facilities. The design adopts a simple roof with side fins that receives an extended canopy above, all well articulated to add motion and balance to the structure, thus crowning the beautifully and creatively designed hotel. |

Pearl Marina Clubhouse- Kampala This 2 storied clubhouse is located in Entebe, Kampala on a 300 acre property on the Garuga peninsula along the shores of Lake Victoria. With a post- modern approach to design, the building is accentuated with a hint of minimalism embelished by vertical and horizontal planes on the buildings facades. Roof canopies shield the clubhouse from prevailing winds and rainfall while also aid in the sunshading of the interior spaces from direct sunlight. The buildings built form composition showcases the careful use of natural materials resulting in an iconicand aesthetically appealing building. |

FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCE EGERTON UNIVERSITY AAKI Consultants were commissioned to design the Faculty of Health Sciences Block for Egerton University located in Nakuru. Having been completed in 2011, the design comprised of ultra-modern administration offices, 800 seating student capacity, Laboratories, Classrooms and Cafeteria. The form is characterized by use of basic shapes with a large volume of rectangular mass at the entrance, which has been skillfully articulated and highlighted with modern materials. Its overall form portrays an institutional building that blends exceptionally well with the already existing structures. |

The building adopts a rectangular form tapering at the last two floors. The rectangular form is composed of 2 cuboid towers raising up to 11 floors and joined by a central service core. The use of a near squire layout facilitates maximum utility of space to the advantage of the end user. The principal environmental control response was orientation where the longer facades with office spaces have windows openings face north and south, the intention being maximum reduction of direct solar heat penetration.

This bold architectural statement in the Upper Hill area was designed under commission from Mayfair Insurance Company. The 9-storied development along Ralphe Bunche Road was achieved within the constraint of a narrow and elongated site. Nginyo towers is a prestigious shopping business development located along Koinange Street in Nairobi and designed by AAKI Consultants. It has a podium of three shopping levels, executive offices, conference rooms and a restaurant, on which the main tower of six typical floors stand.This Architectural piece is capped by an elaborate geometric crown that houses the executive office. It is characterized by an arched corner entrance, which leads to a lobby with volumes of space created by mezzanine floors. The Architects were keen come up with a very efficient building and ensure maximum returns to the client without compromising on its aesthetics.

As regional Architects, AAKI consultants teamed up with J.B Nsubuga of Uganda to create one of the most celebrated masterpieces located at the heart of Kampala, Uganda. This is a modern state of the art training and business complex in Kampala Uganda for Eastern and South African Management Institute, which was completed in 2007. The facility houses the regional offices for ESAMI and a training facility for managers. The Architects’ designed form was as a result of symbolism and deconstruction combined with innovation and craftsmanship. The bold curved façade “engages the landscape, the sculpture and the architecture.The canopy symbolizes a graduation hat, hovering dominantly above the conference hall, the center of exchange of knowledge. |

The way we work
At every project stage we team up in workshops with partners, experts, users and team building events etc., discussing the results of our research and developing the concept and framework for the design work. We work with cardboard models a lot, as they help us to share, discuss and evaluate different spatial solutions and with modern CAD software’s technology, there is no limit to our ideas.
From the beginning aaki consultants has pioneered a sustainable approach to design, through work that spans the spectrum from master plans to intricate details like furnishings. Our approach is sensitive to location and culture, often combining the latest advances in building technology with techniques drawn from vernacular tradition to postmodern ideologies; and we harness the skills, enthusiasm and knowledge of integrated design teams, clients and communities to create inspirational environments.
